Eligibility Requirements
- Must be enrolled in or accepted to one of the following:
- Four-year university
- Community college
- Graduate or post-graduate program
- Technical or vocational program
- Minimum 3.25 GPA, or 2.5 GPA with a documented learning disability (IEP)
- Must be of Portuguese descent
- Must reside in San Diego County
- Must complete 30 hours of community service with UPSES during the year of application
Selection Criteria
- Academic achievement and scholastic merit
- Involvement in the Portuguese community
- Community service, leadership, and character
- Quality of written responses and essays
- Letters of recommendation
Essay Requirements
- Personal Statement (maximum 150 words)
- Portuguese Community Essay (maximum 500 words)
